Explorers Program

This program builds relationships with local youth, introduces them to Learning for Life activities and interests them in a law-enforcement career

Events throughout the year include Mini Police Academy, competitions, ceremonies, a week-long camp and service projects

Explorers meet every Tuesday evening for 4 hours at a local Police station

SLCPD Patch Program

SLCPD receives requests from collectors, such as other police departments and schools, to share SLCPD arm patches

SLCPF purchases the SLCPD arm patches and the accompanying flyers
SLCPD Officer-Submitted Requests

While on duty, SLCPD officers often pay for community members' critical needs out of their pockets, including emergency shelter, food or basic clothing needs

SLCPF reimburses officers for submitted expenses

Awards Luncheon

This quarterly event recognizes and presents awards to those who have excelled within the police department

Baker to Vegas Race
Date: March 23-24

This prestigious and unique law enforcement foot race invites law enforcement officers from around the globe to compete for the coveted trophy, promoting camaraderie and encouraging physical fitness

The race starts in Baker, California, and ends in Las Vegas, Nevada

Gun Buy-Back Program

This collaborative program with the Mayor's office allows gun owners to turn in their guns for gift cards

SLCPF provides gift cards--$100 for assault-type guns and $50 for all other guns
Golf with a Cop - Summer Youth Golf Program
Date: Summer

This program is an opportunity for youth (6 to 16) to learn golf with a golf pro and SLCPD officers

Held at Glendale Golf Course

The SLCPF sponsors scholarships for youth whose families cannot afford the registration fee
Police Pay It Forward – Back to School
Date: August 17

This community outreach event helps underprivileged children (identified through local schools) purchase school supplies

Each student is partnered with a police officer and gets $100 to buy back-to-school supplies and clothing

Usually held at Target for 50 to 60 kids with breakfast provided

Trick or Treat Community Event

This community outreach event brings children and families to the Public Safety building for an afternoon of trick-or-treating and Halloween fun

Held at the Public Safety Building, each SLCPD unit hosts a decorated table with an activity

Weekend Hoops

This collaborative program with SLCPD and Salt Lake County organizes weekend basketball with Salt Lake youth and SLCPD officers

Open to all youth ages 18-25 across the Salt Lake Valley

Games are hosted at the Northwest Recreation Center every Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm

Police Pay It Forward - Holiday Shopping

This community outreach event assists underprivileged children (identified through local schools) with holiday shopping
